I wish Obama had pressed for single-payer national health care.

I wish Obama would have proposed a public works program to put every American who needs a job to work.

I wish Obama would have ordered every federal building to be installed with a solar panel, and almost every car in the federal fleet to be a hybrid or electric car.

I wish Obama would have proposed opening federal grocery stores in areas that are food deserts.

I wish Obama would have addressed the cruel problem of poverty in America.

I wish Obama would have proposed 12 months of paid maternity and paternity leave, mandatory paid sick leave, and federal child care.

I wish Obama would have advocated the nationalization of the armament companies, as Sen. Robert La Follette did back in 1924.

No decent socialist would have implemented policies that have left unemployment at over 9 percent and foreclosures at record heights.

No decent socialist would have been caught dead praising the CEOs of Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan Chase and justifying their obscene salaries the way Obama did. No decent socialist would have left the health insurance industries in the driver’s seat.

I consider myself pretty liberal, but I have to say, I really don’t think taxes need to be any higher on those who have more money. My dad has busted his ass his whole life, and deserves what he makes; yet, when you do all the math, he works every other day for the government. Could you imagine half of what you make being taken? That would just suck.

So I don’t know. I’m conflicted about it. 

I mean there is no such thing as a 50% tax bracket, where 50% of your taxable income goes to the government. Thats just crazy. Plus on the news when they say “the wealthy” they usually mean the top 2% or 5%. They mean people just rollin’ in dough, not just normal hard-working citizens.

well when they say marginal income tax i’m pretty sure that just means increasing the tax on money made after a certain amount. right now if you live alone and are making over 400,000 a year, then the first 400,000 is at the regular tax rate of like 30% and then any additional money you make would be taxed at a higher rate. I think a good strategy would be to have relatively low taxes on the first like 3 million you make per year and then very high taxes on any money you make after 3 million. but i dont really know that much about this stuff so probably nobody in government should take my advice :p
